USB stands for Universal Serial Bus. This is a computer bus standard that defines how devices are connected to computers. Most modern PCs have at least two USB ports, but some laptops may only have one. USB was designed to replace serial ports, parallel ports, and PS/2 connectors.
History of USB
USB was first introduced by SanDisk Corporation in 1987. It was designed to provide a universal serial bus that would allow devices to connect to computers without having to use proprietary cables. In 1993, they released their first flash drive called the Cruzer. This device had a capacity of 1 MB and was priced at $399.00.
